WOF is passionate about providing and supplying clean water. Our water project is a sustainable, long-term solution that addresses ongoing problems with safe water aid.
"Clean and safe water is a fundamental human need essential for life and access to it is a basic human right. Sadly many hundreds of millions of people don't have access to such water. Therefore both as a community and as individuals we must do our best to help provide clean and safe water to all communities and individuals that don't have access to it.
On a trip to Cambodia with World Orphan Fund, I witnessed firsthand the sad reality of the situation. While it was good to see a small number of charity organisations have drilled some water wells in some of the areas they are needed, it was very sad to see that the large majority of these water wells don't work thus making them completely useless. This is because they've failed to monitor and maintain the water wells as well as failing to teach the locals the necessary knowledge to be able to make repairs and carry out the necessary maintenance themselves.
Another point of concern is that the most of the wells are different which means that mechanism of each pump is totally different making repairs difficult and parts practically impossible to source. While the intention is good and water wells are absolutely needed our investigation and preliminary testing of the ground water supply in the region clearly shows that we need a new approach to ensure that the community and individuals have a reliable source of clean and safe water into the future."
