n orphan is a child who has lost both parents or a father.
At World Orphan Fund we aim to empower children with the ability, facility and resources to learn, grow and develop within a familiar environment.
We do not support the institutionalization of orphans. Instead, we provide various forms of assistance to encourage the child’s immediate or extended family to house them. This ensures the child is not removed from their family because of the pressure that comes with loss of family wages.
Orphan sponsorship does not stop at the child, rather it includes the prevention of factors that lead to their orphaning. This includes education and work skills to enable the new generation to provide for their own families in future.
World Orphan Fund headquarters in Cambodia is comprised of a dedicated local volunteer team. This team is responsible for maintaining the welfare of our orphans as well as completing audits quarterly. Our Australian volunteers also visit Cambodia multiple times a year for correspondence and to achieve continual improvement for the organisation.
Recent changes have been introduced to our program which means sponsors are no longer assigned an individual child to support. Instead all donations will be allocated to a general pool of orphans. This allows for any donation as small as $25.00 to be contributed to a pool which is equally distributed to all orphans in our program. This ensures no child misses out when individual payments cannot be fulfilled by our sponsors.
